This is the last day of school before Spring Break! On my walk to school this morning, I met Pak Budi, our elementary school cleaner. He is a very friendly guy, and we often chat in the morning. For some reason this morning, after we parted ways, I was translating our conversation into English in my head. But I was translating it literally. And wondering why people don't talk like that more often. It's so much easier.
Here is our conversation in literally translated English.
Pak Budi: Morning.
Me: Morning.
Pak Budi: Holiday to where? In home only?
Me: No. Me to Bali.
Pak Budi: Alone?
Me: No. With class three children.
Pak Budi: All class three children?
Me: Yes. All.
Pak Budi: They to there have what plan?
Me: Holiday only. This last opportunity spend time together before graduate.
Pak Budi: Oh. How many?
Me: 22 or 23.
Pak Budi: Many enough.
Me: Yes. Many enough that naughty enough.
Pak Budi: Haha... You guard them.
Me: Hope can.
Pak Budi: Sure can. Goodbye.
Me: Goodbye.
On second thought, we might all sound crazy if we talked like that all the time. But it would still be fun!
