i went to prayer meeting last night with a group of indonesian, american, and german friends. events with this group are usually conducted in a mix of indonesian and english. everybody understands both languages for the most part, but not everybody is comfortable speaking both. and when it comes to prayer, i think it's important to talk to God in your heart language.

there was an indonesian friend who prayed last night. and his prayer started out, "selamat malam Tuhan. terima kasih atas hari ini...." and a few minutes later, it ended with, "and i pray these things in Jesus' name, amen."

and the point of the story is that i never even noticed when he switched languages. somewhere in the middle. and that makes me kind of happy. because in my mind, i understood every word. language didn't matter. and because there was never a point where i didn't understand what was being said, there was also never a point when i realized that the language was different.

i really love little moments like that.
