A Goat-Raiser

It's getting to be that time of year when students realize they spent all quarter doing sub-par work, and they begin to beg for extra credit to make up for it. God forbid their grade card actually reflect the quality of the work they spent the first 95% of the quarter turning in.

Geometry is a rough class, and we just finished a rough chapter. So I beat the kids to the punch and told them - before any of them even asked! - that they could earn up to 5 extra credit points if they made an instruction book on how to do each of the fourteen main geometric constructions we learned in the last chapter. Of course, most of the kids who NEED the extra credit didn't bother to do it. But over half the class did! So now I have that to grade.

One student made his whole book, then on the very last page, cited his source.

"A goat-raiser".

It made me smile.
