me: jon, are you going to finish your test after school today?
jon: i can't.
me: uhhh... why not?
jon: i have guitar lessons after school.
me: so if you knew you couldn't stay after school, why didn't you finish your test during lunch?
jon: because i was going to do it later.
me: later like when?
jon: when is available?
me: today.
jon: i can't.
me: so you're going to turn it in as is?
jon: i finished less than half.
me: WHAT?!
jon: it's too long.
me: 15 other people are finished.
jon: some worked on it during lunch.
me: which is what you should have done!
jon: i was busy.
me: what time is your guitar practice?
jon: 4.
me: that is an hour after school! come take your test right after school.
jon: can't. i'll need at least 2 hours to finish.
me: jon, that is ridiculous.
jon: it's a long test.
me: ok, if only a few people actually finished, i could see why you would need to take that long. i understand that you are meticulous and take longer. but 2 hours is unreasonable. come work on it after school.
jon: i can't. i have to leave right away to get home at 3:50. just in time for guitar.
me: it takes you 50 minutes to ride your bike home?!
jon: yes.
me: you live one kilometer away!
jon: some of that time is getting ready to go.
me: getting ready!?
jon: i have to go to my locker first. that takes the longest.
me: it is up one flight of stairs!
jon: i know.
me: oh, my gosh.
