happenings

well, yesterday marked the beginning of school year 2009-2010.
a day which will go down in infamy...
... as the day the math teacher set her alarm an hour late for the first day of school.
fantastic. i woke up at 7:30.
BUT! - i was at school, ready to go, when the 7:40 start-of-the-day bell rang.
ok, so i was actually arriving at school right AS the bell rang.
but still... impressive, no?

meanwhile, back at the ranch, swine flu has now managed to reach indonesia.
a country in which 95% of its residents don't eat pork.
so i say props to swine flu.
unfortunately it's in central java.
and unfortunately, so am i.
and even more unfortunately, 5 people (recorded) have died so far.

also, if that weren't tragic enough, it seems there's a terrorist on the loose.
definitive test results came out today - it was NOT noordin top killed in last week's gunfight.
also fantastic. one of asia's most wanted terrorists was last seen about an hour from my house.

are we worried? nooooooo.....
top (and other world class terrorists) have been in the area for years.
if they were out to get us, we'd be gone by now.
that's actually a really comforting thought.
