i drove all over town tonight, even snuck to the top of the tallest hotel, all in an attempt to see the stupid volcano... but alas, it was all in vain. i talked to a becak (rickshaw) driver, and he gave me oddly specific directions to a place outside of town where i could clearly see the volcano, but it was already after 10 pm at that point, so i just came home. he seemed to think that i was panicking when i asked where i could see the volcano (i'm not), and he was very reassuring, "oh don't worry, this happens ALL the time, we haven't had a big eruption since '67, nothing can hurt us here". nice guy.
i secretly hope the sky is full of ash and school is closed tomorrow. for 3 reasons.
1. i just want to sleep in.
2. i don't want to go to parent teacher conferences tomorrow.
3. how cool would that be? (assuming i don't actually inhale the ash, of course.)
